Facebook marketing is getting trickier and trickier. Only a few months ago, one would only have to share his article on his page and it would get the success it deserves. At least an ‘acceptable’ part of your fans would see the post.
In a quest to monetize its services, Facebook has lately changed the rules of the game, radically. Recent tweaks in the Edgerank has made it harder for marketers to reach out to their audiences, as demonstrated on the chart below, courtesy of social@Ogilvy:

Don’t despair, solutions do exist. However, if you are still reluctant to break open the piggy bank to sponsor your posts, you have to revise the way you approach Facebook marketing. Competition for engagement has become an open field battle where every page wants its slice of the cake. On this infographic created by We Are Social Media, you will find 10 tips to help you standing out from the crowd.
Highlights:
- Facebook isn’t a website you should be surfing from your workplace, the same applies to your fans. This means you should leave the professional way of writing behind you. Instead, be fun, positive and most of all, natural!
- Do you want engagement to roll in? You will collect more likes, comments and shares if you ask questions to your community.
- Don’t shorten your links. There is no such thing as character restriction on Facebook, so you’d be better off posting full links. Some people will be hesitant to click on shortened links as they have no idea where they will land.
- Learn to get straight to the point. Research has proven that 80-word posts or less generate the best possible engagement.
- Come up with great visuals. Quotes are well-known for garnering engagement.
